Sophie Jullian, 53, is Scientific Director of IFP Energies nouvelles. She is graduated in Chemical Engineering from the École Supérieure de Chimie Industrielle de Lyon (CPE Lyon) and holds a PhD in chemistry from the Pierre et Marie Curie University in Paris, France. She has also been auditor at the Institut des Hautes Etudes pour la Science et la Technologie (IHEST, the class of Hubert Curien 2009). She joined IFP in 1983, working in the field of separation by adsorption processes and became project manager for gas treatment processes. In 1998, she was appointed head of the Thermodynamics and Transfers Department, before becoming Director of the Development Division at IFP-Lyon in 2001, then Director of the Process Research Division in 2005. She had been Vice-chairman for the Axelera competitiveness cluster and is now president of the Scientific Councils of ENS Lyon and the Axelera competitiveness cluster and member of the Scientific Councils of ADEME, INRA and UTC.
At IFPEN, she is in charge of the different programs on Advanced Research and specially those on CO2 transformation for energy or chemistry purpose.
