Biography

Ed Rode joined Det Norske Veritas Research and Innovation in Dublin, Ohio as a Principal Researcher in 2011. His areas of focus and interest are primarily in alternative energy and fuels, and carbon utilization technologies. Prior to DNV, he has contributed to the development and commercialization of novel technologies in chemical, alternative and renewable energy, and high tech industries. As Vice President of Advanced development at QuestAir Technologies, he led the adsorbent and process teams for core technologies used in rapid cycle pressure swing adsorption equipment which was used in hydrogen purification, natural gas and landfill gas separations, and oxygen separation from air. At Velocys, he was Senior Program Manager for process intensification of hydroprocessing alternative energy and conventional petroleum feedstocks. He also was Vice President of Technology at Zeochem, a manufacturer of molecular sieve adsorbents for bulk separations and purification processes. He co-developed the industry leading molecular sieve adsorbent used in ethanol dehydration processes.   In the early 90’s, he was involved in reaction engineering analysis and design of plasma etch and chemical vapour deposition reactors. He started his post-graduate career on the chemical engineering faculty at San Jose State University. He is a chemical engineer graduate of University of Kentucky (BS) and Virginia Polytechnic Institute (PhD). He is co-inventor on 8 granted patents and has additional patents pending.
