Theresa Kotanchek is the Vice President for Sustainable Technologies and Innovation Sourcing for The Dow Chemical Company. She leads the strategic integration of sustainability into Dow’s innovation portfolio. She also serves as Dow’s global leader for external technology, coordinating external bodies including universities, national labs, government agencies and development partners.
Theresa Kotanchek joined Dow in 1990 with extensive experience in engineering and materials science. From 1990 to 2000 she served as a research leader in Corporate Research, a Product Manager in Advanced Electronics and as the Materials Science Technology Leader in Corporate R&D. From 2000 to 2005, Kotanchek served as a Global R&D director in a variety of research and business areas including New Business Development for Dow Plastics, Dow’s Growth Center, and Ventures. In 2005 she was named Chief Technology Officer of Dow Chemical China Company Limited where she led Asia Pacific R&D, including the development and staffing of Dow’s new state-of-the-art R&D center in Shanghai, China. She assumed her current role in April of 2010.
Theresa Kotanchek holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Materials Science, a Masters of Science in Ceramic Science, and a Bachelor of Science in Ceramic Science & Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University.
