CO2, formic acid and hydrogen economy
More than 80% of all products of the chemical industry are made via catalysis. In this regard catalysis is a key factor for achieving a sustainable production of chemicals today and in the future. In the talk the development of new technologies which allow for the replacement of contemporary fuels which are based on fossil resources will be highlighted. In this respect the catalytic generation of hydrogen from potential hydrogen storage materials such as formic acid will be presented. Molecular-defined catalysts have been developed, which allow for the professional generation of hydrogen at ambient conditions. In addition novel catalyst systems for the reduction of carbon dioxide will be presented.
