Using CO2 as a renewable is increasingly critical especially for the competitiveness of Europe, a region with fewer resources than other global players. In addition a visionary project using CO2 as raw material will demonstrate the potential of chemistry as a science to capture the interest of the young generation to solve significant societal challenges such as feedstock, energy supply, land use or biodiversity. CEFIC, representing the European Chemical Industry, has join forces with EUChemS, the alliance of European Chemical Societies and several high quality academias to develop a complementary approach for Europe to gain critical mass and use the knowledge available. The target is to combine the existing disperse activities all over Europe (including the filling of gaps) into a strong and speedy project with public-private cooperation.
